Music is a universal language which transcends all barriers of country, race or religion. It unites man to man, but even more, it unites man to God. Music, it is said, is the language of the soul. Someone who does not know the laws of painting could never understand the laws of sculpture. Someone who has no knowledge of the principles of instrumental music cannot know the laws of dancing. Someone who does not understand the art of vocal music cannot understand the principles of instrumental music.
The Gods of instrumental music :
G3 is an almost once a year live music show as well as concert tour featuring three select guitarists of the generation. It was introduced by guitarist Joe Satriani in 1996. G3 has featured many guitarists including: Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, Robert Fripp, Paul Gilbert, Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker, Adrian Legg and many other special guests, including Tony MacAlpine, Johnny Hiland, Steve Lukather, Steve Morse, Chris Duarte, Andy Timmons, Neal Schon, Gary Hoey, Brian May, Billy Gibbons, Johnny A, George Lynch, Patrick Rondat, and Eric Sardinas.
One of our favorite summer activities is to gather the neighborhood kids together and have a marching band. Selecting costumes that vary from a scarf tied around the head to an old Halloween witch’s hat, they troop into our playroom and make a selection from our vast collection of percussion instruments. Lined up again we all strut around the neighborhood, happily banging away.
